o.k., so it is not the best little drawing in the world, but it is one of the best performances at the bain. carl trahan, between every « act » cleans the pool. sweeps up the left behind traces, hoses the pool down, mops up the stains, gets a fan and dries the pool. a perfectly clean pool for every performer. but, really. it is a beautiful performance. this body engaged in this act, moving through space, a perfect time for us, the audience to witness the functional performance of the every day. still as relevant today as when mierle laderman ukles wrote her « maintenance art manifesto » in 1969.
