Burmester (DEU)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>J\u00f6rn J. Burmester is a performance artist, curator and playwright living and working in Berlin. He got his start working with independent theatre companies in the 1980s. He went on to study Applied Theatre Studies in \u00a0Gie\u00dfen\/Germany and New York, and received his diploma from Justus-Liebig University in\u00a0Gie\u00dfen, in 1995. Burmester&#8217;s solo work began with a series of performance lectures on the war in Afghanistan (<em>The Rambo Lectures<\/em>, 2001-2003). The use of text in performance art has been a focus of his work ever since. In his more recent works, he explores ways out of the confines of authorship using co-operative and non-linear text formats. The process translates into his works as a singer\/songwriter within the experimental band project <em>Das Prinzip<\/em> with Henrik Vestergaard Friis. He has performed his solo and group works all over Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Burmester considers the production and organisation of performance events and symposiums an integral part of his artistic practice.
