New Website!

Montréal, 21 October 2010 – The VIVA! Art Action collective is proud to announce the launching of its new Website! All information pertaining to VIVA! past and present is now available online, so you can check the latest news or peruse our archives where you will find text and images documenting over 200 artists’ actions from the four corners of the world.

Live art (performance, gesture, and public and participatory intervention) is thriving in contemporary visual arts culture, yet it remains largely unknown by the general public. Characterized by the ephemeral and the immaterial, it is organic in nature and takes place in the “here and now.” In order to increase interdisciplinary artists’ visibility, VIVA!’s new web platform offers complete documentation of previous VIVA! events (2006-2009) as well as mini-VIVA (2008). On our newly redesigned Website we have collated information and standardized all content in order to facilitate research on the work of artists who have participated in these events up to now. In so doing, VIVA! intends to significantly promote emerging and exciting  new practices here and elsewhere,  and the discourses that surrounds them.

The team at VIVA! Art Action is currently planning the 3rd edition which will take place in the autumn of 2011. Keep an eye out for our call for submissions via email, Facebook, Twitter, or by joining our mailing list!

About VIVA! Art Action
VIVA! Art Action is a shared initiative of artist-run centres articule, Clark, DARE-DARE, La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse, Praxis art actuel and Skol, who put together the first international action art event in Montréal in the autumn of 2006. VIVA! Art Action aims to provide a lively environment that fosters and supports emerging artistic practices that are ephemeral, unpredictable, and forever in flux.
