chang wan wee, marx kruis and a last minute volunteer performer, janice yan yan wu, who was sent in to the scene by the organizers to help the two other performers…
the guys were the chefs. the girl served. sushi. this is an aside but i think it kinda fits with the performance. with the notion of privilege and power. most nights the organizers and artists who present at viva! are … Continuer la lecture

irene izquierdo…searching for spaces
today clement asked, « where are the off-site performances? » the question could be answered, « they are somewhere in montréal. » not a very satisfactory answer if what you want is to « see » « something. » but often the real answer to this question is … Continuer la lecture
dominique pétrin
dominique pétrin’s show was probably good based upon the shouts of applause that came at the end. her costumes were drop dead gorgeous. but what i saw mostly were feet and black stockings. the conditions of viewing. a hot room. … Continuer la lecture
mathieu léger
you were never the same after that. spoken quietly. mouthed but not audible. repeated over and over. the performer mathieu léger opening his black briefcase, taking out and rolling out a long red paper ruler with numbers up to ten. … Continuer la lecture
spirit duplicata, joelle couturier and emilie roby
i hope i have the right heading…cuz there were three performers.
i have to be honest. it was the last performance of the night. i was tired. i wanted to go home. and so…after sitting and « waiting » for the performance to begin with the steady beat of the music going on and on…and then « figuring out » that the « performance » was actually happening not in the pool but in the « dining room » next to the pool i assumed it was that and i started to pack up to go home. maria legault…or its good to laugh at ourselves
maria legault. obviously one of us. she knows our weaknesses, our sore points, our anxieties. but better than that, she knows how to make us laugh at ourselves. not an easy task. this ability to poke at sores, to speak … Continuer la lecture
bbb's workshop group
o.k. imagine you take a workshop, a performance workshop, with a bunch of people you don’t know and have never worked with before. and you know you are to present a performance as part of a festival, a performance festival. … Continuer la lecture

workshop2the performance began with a table setting and empty chairs. one by one the performers came and took up their place at the table. a family dynamic. one chair was conspicuously left empty. Continuer la lecture
joshua schwebel
to loiter is a criminal offense under the canadian criminal code. if you are not homeless, or a youth of questionable status you probably do not have to worry much about being apprehended by the police for staying in one … Continuer la lecture
no, he's not masturbating….that is a hose in carl trahan's hands and that is water shooting out
o.k., so it is not the best little drawing in the world, but it is one of the best performances at the bain. carl trahan, between every « act » cleans the pool. sweeps up the left behind traces, hoses the pool … Continuer la lecture
