Avec l’assistance du professeur, les participants utiliseront une série de techniques et d’exercices afin de se concentrer sur la perception de leur personnalité propre, de développer des habiletés pour communiquer avec le corps et de transformer leurs idées en performance. La perception et l’expérience personnelle colorent et caractérisent la façon dont nous communiquons et traitons le corps dans le temps et l’espace pendant une performance. L’objectif principal de l’atelier est d’étudier le corps comme outil et d’utiliser cet outil pour communiquer efficacement lors d’une performance.

BBB Johannes Deimling est né en 1969 dans le village allemand d’Andernach. En 1988, il a commencé à travailler en tant qu’artiste dans le domaine de la performance, de la vidéo, de l’installation, du dessin et de la musique. Grâce à ses œuvres performatives, il s’est fait connaître internationalement. Il a présenté son travail dans plusieurs festivals et expositions en Allemagne, en Pologne, en Suisse, en Estonie, en Autriche, en Roumanie, en France, en Italie, en Espagne, en Angleterre, en République Tchèque, au Pays-Bas, en Israël, au Canada et à Cuba. Deimling conceptualise une image de notre société qui est remplie de contradictions, de sentimentalité, de stupidité, mais aussi d’affection, de créativité et de coopération. Il puise ses idées dans la banalité de la vie de tous les jours et combine ses recherches avec sa propre biographie. o.k. imagine you take a workshop, a performance workshop, with a bunch of people you don’t know and have never worked with before. and you know you are to present a performance as part of a festival, a performance festival.

uh huh…

and some of the people in the workshop are performers with a lot of experience. but this doesn’t matter because now you are a group. a single entity made up of various parts.

and

you all happen to be nice people with a high degree of sensitivity towards the others.

and yet, you are supposed to come up with a performance of one hour duration.

many things are going to happen. anyone who has ever worked in any group can imagine. there are egos to consider, sensitivities to respect or confront. a direction or a schema has to be somewhat agreed upon (even if this schema is that there will be no schema.) and a group will only be as strong as its weakest link. one thing about group performance is that it is so easy to destroy, and often not intentionally, the ever so fragile connect to the certain energy the one of the performers is starting to channel. and it is often the quiet that is lost, or the subtle that is destroyed before it has time to gain in its ampler.

well, this group of bbb students displayed a heightened sensitivity to the dynamics of each individual’s contribution. despite the short time of the group development (or perhaps even because of it) an immense sense of respect was palpable between the performers. this energy was probably the strongest single overriding element of the performance that was transmitted and held by the members of the audience. transmitted and held for the hour.
